Ever noticed that one old articulated bus, the New Flyer D60, that's a little different from the others of its kind? The one with a newer set of electronics, including the displays that show you what bus route it is?
You're not the only one. This one bus has an interesting history. In late 2001 to early 2002, this bus was outfitted with new technologies - "smart" technologies, if you will. It was used as a test coach for many of the features that are commonplace in every bus in our system today, such as GPS sensors and next stop displays and announcements, hence its slightly unique characteristics among the other buses of the same model.
It is recognizable on the streets as the old, diesel-only articulated bus that has newer, orange displays instead of green ones. If you ever are on it, remember that it was once the pioneer for all of the newer technologies found inside the buses you ride today.
