Well, they're definitely not being useful just sitting around in a warehouse. The streetcar not only attracted tons of tourists, but also provided a convenient connection in between Colman Dock and Pioneer Square and the International District, among other regional transit centers. Everybody loved it. And now that the viaduct is going to be destroyed, now's a better time than any to put it back in service. It's certainly a better option than the failing Route 99 that has replaced it ever since it was put out of service in 2005, which is impressively useless, especially considering how different it is from the original trolley route.
There's been talk of bringing it back to service, although nobody knows who's going to (and nobody wants to) fund its operation, the only problem, in our cash-stripped DOT. If that is sorted out, it would be a definite win for transit in Seattle.
